Livingston County has moved to Next Generation 911 as of today. All public safety agencies in the county have made the transition to a new radio communications system as part of a statewide upgrade.
Livingston County has been working with Motorola the past two years to install and convert all public safety communications to the new system. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says it puts all the first responders on the same radio system and lets them all talk to one another instantly.
The sheriff’s office says that greatly improves their ability to respond to emergencies. Making the changes took roughly $10 million over the last three years from the New York Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
