The Livingston County Sheriff says a fatal crash in the Town of Leicester this week involved members of a Bangladeshi family.
Five members of that family were in an SUV driven by 65-year-old Abu Syed Rezaul Karim of Buffalo Wednesday evening when he tried to turn left from Mt. Morris Road onto Perry Road and went into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.
The crash ejected two members of the family from the back seat. 58-year-old Syed Kefayet Ullah of Bangladesh was killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene, while 47-year-old Chowdhury Mahbuba Mujahid suffered serious injuries. She’s currently in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. The others suffered lesser injuries and the truck driver was apparently not hurt.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty says Karim was issued a ticket for failing to yield while making a left turn.
