Cameras mounted on school buses could be targeting drivers who pass a stopped bus under a bill approved by a State Assembly Committee.
The Assembly Transportation Committee approved the measure to mount cameras on the stop arm of school buses along with a package of other school safety legislation. It now goes to the Assembly Codes Committee for a review.
A similar measure backed by Rochester-area State Senator Rich Funke is working its way through the State Senate in similar fashion.
It would be up to local school districts to install the cameras.
