The law firm representing the family of Daniel Prude say they’re disappointed that a grand jury decided not to indict any of the seven police officers involved in Prude’s death. But they say Nathaniel McFarland, Prude’s son, will vigorously pursue the civil case he has filed against the city and Rochester police.
The firm of Faraci Lange says “Through the litigation process, we will leave no stone unturned in obtaining all relevant evidence about both the incident and the subsequent efforts to prevent the truth from becoming public.”
Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney for Western New York says his office will review the New York Attorney General’s investigation of the Prude case. They issued the following statement:
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York, the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are aware that a grand jury empaneled by the New York State Attorney General’s Office has concluded its investigation of the various officers of the Rochester Police Department who encountered Daniel Prude on March 23, 2020, and determined that no charges would be filed. We intend to review the comprehensive report issued by the New York State Attorney General, as well as any other relevant materials, and will determine whether any further federal response is warranted.”
