Rochester overcomes a 5-1 deficit to beat the Mets, 9-7.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A pair of Joey Meneses homers helped the Rochester Red Wings (Plates) storm back from down four going into the 7th inning against the Syracuse Mets (Salt Potatoes) in game one of The Duel of the Dishes at NBT Bank Stadium.

Third baseman Andrew Young slugged his third homer of the year, launching a second-inning solo-shot off Syracuse starter RHP Tim Adleman.

Catcher Tres Barrera enjoyed a 2-for-4 night at the plate picking up a double and three RBI en route to the Wings 17th come from behind win. Right fielder Andrew Stevenson tallied a double of his own, going 1-for-5 tonight. Rochester’s offense recorded five multi-hit performances off the Syracuse pitching staff.

Sterling Sharp got the ball for the Wings and went four innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three. RHP Andres Machado, LHP Francisco Perez, RHP Tyler Clippard, RHP Reed Garrett, and RHP Jordan Weems combined to cover the remaining five innings allowing four runs to cross. Clippard earned the win, his third of the year, while Weems picked up his team-leading sixth save of the year.

The two teams will meet again for game four of the series at 6:35 p.m. Friday with RHP Jackson Tetreault getting the ball for the Wings, who will oppose Syracuse’s RHP Felix Pena.
