PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship got off with a double bang on Tuesday with Media Day at Oak Hill Country Club.

The first part of the day was with two chefs preparing food using KitchenAid products.

At the tournament in May, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to not only watch some great golf, but also get up close with the KitchenAid brand with more than 300 large and small appliances spread across the course.

The 80th Championship will be held from May 21 through May 26.

– Tuesday, May 21: Official Championship Pro-Am, practice rounds
– Wednesday, May 22: Practice round
– Thursday, May 23 through Sunday, May 26: Championship rounds

To honor those who serve our country, the Championship offers active duty, retirees, veterans, reserve, National Guard, and one accompanying guest complimentary daily grounds access to the tournament.

The new President of the PGA is Suzy Whaley, a Syracuse native and the first-ever women president of the organization.

“Anytime you are a first you are really never the first,” she said. “There was always someone that came before you that opened that door, or opened that window, or perhaps even just encouraged you and put that seed in your head.

“I had so many great mentors – male and female – that really pushed me and said you have a voice and have an opportunity to make effective change among a group of people. For me, that was enough to be able share with the world that ‘Golf is for you, it’s for everyone,’ and we want to make sure that people understand that and know that and want to invite them to be a part of it.”

The 2018 Senior PGA Championship winner, Paul Broadhurst, from the United Kingdom, took part in the event.

He was presented with gifts representing the area as Don Jeffries of Visit Rochester, Jody Gage of the Rochester Americans, Dan Mason of the Rochester Red Wings, and the Buffalo Sabres mascot Sabretooth each presented Broadhurst a gift.

Bob Duffey, who is the Greater Rochester Chamber President, took Broadhurst on a tour that included the George Eastman House, Nick Tahou’s, Susan B. Anthony House, Genesee Brew House, and the Greater Rochester International Airport.

This was not Broadhurt’s first trip to Rochester as he was at Oak Hill in 1995 for the Ryder Cup, but as a golf analyst and not as a player.

Commenting on what it will take to win the Senior PGA Championship, Broadhurst said, “Keeping drives down the middle of the fairway.”
