The boyfriend of murder victim Lisa Shuler has been found in West Virginia, and charged with second degree murder. Seth Larson was also charged with tampering with physical evidence and concealment of a human corpse.
Irondequoit police believe Larson murdered Shuler, whom he lived with at a house on Culver Road near Sea Breeze. He dismembered the body, moving part of the remains to Durand Lake about a mile away. Shuler’s remains were found by police partly behind the house, and partly in the lake when they were spotted by a visitor to the park on Memorial Day.
Irondequoit Police Chief Alan Laird said in a news conference that it was Larson himself who called 911 in Lewis County, West Virginia, said he was going to the hospital with a health issue, and that he was a wanted man. State police and Irondequoit investigators were in West Virginia speaking with Larson on Thursday and arrangements are being made to return him to Rochester.
Laird says he believes Larson knew it was only a matter of time before he was caught, so he decided to give himself up.
