Lake Ontario’s water level is still about a foot less than it was two years ago, when widespread flooding hit the lakeshore counties.

Over the weekend, Governor Cuomo said New York is filling sandbags and deploying aqua dams to the shoreline counties including Cayuga, Monroe, Orleans and Wayne. More than 200,000 sandbags are reportedly being filled so they’ll be ready in case the waters rise.

The region is about half-an-inch behind average on rainfall for this season, but more rains are forecast for this week
