Lake Ontario closed out the month of May at an average level of 248-feet-11-and- 1/32nd of an inch…down about an inch from its record high during the month of 249 feet.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers predicts it will stay at about where it is for all of June, despite increased water outflows from the Moses-Saunders dam on the St.Lawrence River.
The Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Control Board says it continues to release 360,200 cubic feet per second down the St. Lawrence, which is the equivalent of four Olympic-sized swimming pools per second. The lake has gone down by only a few 32nds of an inch, and the risk of flooding whenever there’s a north wind remains.
