The Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board’s latest update says major flooding continues in the lower St. Lawrence River, but Lake Ontario outflows have been increased to try and deal with potential flooding here.
The board says Lake Ontario outflows have been increased several times this week and increases will continue as quickly as possible over the coming days. They say the lower part of the St. Lawrence system and the Ottawa River flows are at record highs, but stabilizing. But the board also says Lakes Erie and Ontario are expected to keep rising and may increase further with two possible storms in the forecast for this week.
They also say strong west winds have caused a rapid rise in levels at the eastern end of Lake Ontario.
