Lake Ontario continues to rise, with the water level at Monday’s check in Rochester now at 248.4, closing in on 284-and-a-half feet. That means a rise of nearly a foot in four weeks.

The International Joint Commission is meeting on the issue today (Monday). We’ll have a story on that when we hear what they have to say.

The water is now up to the foundations of some shoreline homes. Businesses along the shore, the ponds off the Lake, Irondequoit Bay and Salmon Creek are starting to be affected. Parking lots on Hot Dog Row in Seabreeze flooded over the weekend and Marge’s Lakeside Inn in Seabreeze had to close yesterday. It’s beachside seating area is gone.

Greece and Irondequoit continued handing out free sandbags from their DPW garages today, until 2:00 pm in Greece and 3:00 pm in Irondequoit.
