Lake Ontario today stands nearly two feet lower than a year ago, when it was causing widespread flooding of lakeshore properties and roads.
The Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board says the level rose a little over an inch during the past week, to just below 247 feet. That’s about ten inches above average for this time of year, but far less than the dangerous levels of last year.
Outflows from Lake Ontario were gradually increased last week to deal with the rising water. The board says Lake Ontario will hit its seasonal peak soon and should begin dropping.
