An end-of-the-month report from the International Lake Ontario-St Lawrence River Board says heavy rainfall continues to plague the regulators who are trying to drop the level of Lake Ontario.
The board’s statement says inflow from Lake Erie and the various rivers and streams is close to record-high values for summer. Despite that, they say the lake went down by more than one-and-a-half inches over the last week as they continue to release more than 367,000 cubic feet per second down the St. Lawrence. Lake Ontario now stands at just below 248 feet, two inches.
Gradually decreasing levels are expected for the rest of the summer.
