Gates Police and other agencies made an extensive search in the area around the Kwik Fill gas station at 1150 Spencerport Road after shots were fired that smashed a car’s window.
Police say an elderly Gates couple was getting gas at about 7:00 p.m. Monday when a bullet shattered the passenger’s side front door window. Three Gates police cars responded and moved the couple to safety inside the store after another gunshot was heard. Multiple law enforcement agencies sealed off the area, including State Police, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Greece Police and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. State Police used a helicopter to search the area.
After five hours of intensive search, no suspects were located.

Police are trying to locate any possible witnesses to the shooting. They’re asking for tips to Crime Stoppers (423-9300). They also continue to comb the area for additional evidence.
