Rochester holds off the Buffalo Bandits to secure a playoff spot.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks are headed back to the Champion’s Cup Playoffs. Rochester will host the East Division Semifinals on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 pm after knocking off the Buffalo Bandits, 15-13, Saturday night.
Kyle Jackson paced the Knighthawks with 8 points on 4 goals and 4 assists. Joe Resetarits collected 6 points (2g+4a) as Austin Shanks and Cody Jamieson contributed 4 points apiece (2g+2a).
The other goal-scorers included Paul Dawson (1g+2a), Graeme Hossack (1g+1a), Jake Withers (1g), Brad Gillies (1g), and Cory Vitarelli (1g). Josh Currier, Eric Fannell, and Luc Magnan added 2 assists each as Quinn Powless and Sid Smith had 1 assist each.
Goalie Matt Vinc finished with 45 saves in earning the win.
Rochester, which finished 10-8, will now await its first-round opponent. The Knighthawks will host the loser of the Georgia-New England game, which is Sunday at 5 pm. The winner of that game will claim the No. 1 East Division seed.
