Rochester acquires a first and second-pound pick in the deal with the Mammoth.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks announced on Thursday that they have acquired a first-round pick in the 2018 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft and a second-round pick in the 2019 draft from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for forward Stephen Keogh.

“It’s always good to know that there is a possibility of some young, talented guys coming back here,” said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. “It helps the organization stay younger, faster, and stronger.”

After being selected with the second overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, Keogh helped Rochester win three straight Champion’s Cups (2012-14). In 2012, he earned a spot on the NLL All-Rookie Team and in 2014 he was named the Knighthawks Offensive MVP. Over his six seasons, the 30-year-old posted 120 goals and 123 assists in 77 games. This season, Keogh notched 5 goals and 7 assists in 4 games.

“Words can’t describe how much you appreciate and thank somebody like that,” said Hasen about Keogh. “He’s done whatever we’ve asked of him. He’s got grit, he can score and he will stand up for his teammates. He’s going to be missed.”

The Knighthawks will play two games in two days this weekend as they battle the Toronto Rock and the Georgia Swarm. Rochester will host the Rock on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Connors & Ferris Field at the Blue Cross Arena. On Sunday, the Knighthawks will travel to play the Swarm at 6:05 p.m. at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field at Infinite Energy Arena in Atlanta.
