Fans can bid on the special game-worn military jerseys that the proceeds will benefit the VOC.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Saturday’s game will have all the suspense of a playoff game, as the Rochester Knighthawks and Buffalo Bandits meet for the third and final time during the regular season. On the line is the regular-season series and a chance to remain in the East Division playoff hunt.

On Saturday, the Knighthawks will host the Bandits at 7:30 pm on Military Appreciation Night. All military members, veterans, and reservists are able to receive one complimentary ticket to the game. Prior to the contest, Rochester will celebrate the 10th anniversary of winning the 2007 Champion’s Cup.

Playoff Race: Rochester (4-8) trails New England (6-6) by two games for the third and final playoff spot in the East Division. The Buffalo Bandits (5-6) are also in the hunt as they trail the Black Wolves by just one half game.

Scouting the Knighthawks: Rochester dropped a 12-11 decision to the New England Black Wolves on March 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Matt Vinc was stellar in goal, making 53 saves to tie his career high. Kyle Jackson led the way offensively as he scored a career-high five goals as part of a seven-point effort. Rochester received three-point efforts from Josh Currier (2+1), Cory Vitarelli (1+2), Joe Resetarits (1+2), Dan Lomas (0+3) and Jarrett Davis (0+3). Resetarits extended his team-leading point streak to 12 games. On Friday, the Knighthawks welcomed back team captain Sid Smith.

Jersey Auction: On March 25, the Knighthawks and Bandits will wear special military-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off with the net proceeds going to the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC). This season, the auction will also include jerseys from select members of the Knighthawks 2007 Champion’s Cup team. The auction began on March 17 and ends at 9:00 p.m. on game night, March 25. Fans can place their bids online at www.biddingowl.com/rochesterknighthawks or at the Knighthawks-Bandits game Saturday night. The Game-Worn Jersey Auction is presented by the Rochester Knighthawks Charitable Foundation, Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning, and the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC).

Honoring 2007 Team: The organization will honor the players, coaches and staff of the 2007 NLL Champions. Players attending the game include Mike Accursi, Pat Cougevan, Brian Croswell, Scott Ditzell, Pat Dutton, Scott Evans, Bill Greer, Mike Hasen, Stephen Hoar, Pat O’Toole, Joe Smith, Regy Thorpe, Steve Toll, Phil Wetherup, Shawn Wilkins and Shawn Williams. The entire 2007 coaching staff is also returning, as head coach Ed Comeau and assistants Sean Ferris, John Munroe and Tom Cincebox will attend the game.

Scouting the Bandits: Buffalo enters the game after defeating the Vancouver Stealth 15-11 on March 17. Mitch Jones (2+6) and Dhane Smith (2+5) led the Buffalo offense, while Anthony Cosmo backstopped the road win with a 41-save performance. The Bandits have now won three of their last four games. Their lone loss was a 9-8 overtime setback to the Knighthawks on March 4.

Next Game: Rochester will host the Calgary Roughnecks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Connors & Ferris Field at the Blue Cross Arena. Prior to the contest, the Knighthawks will host their Second Annual Knight of Beer, presented by The Distillery and the New York State Brewers Association. From 3-5:30 pm, fans can sample some local flavor from over 20 craft breweries from around New York state.
