The reunion will be held on March 25 at the BCA.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On March 25, the Rochester Knighthawks will turn back the clock and celebrate the 10th anniversary of winning the 2007 Champion’s Cup. The organization will honor the players, coaches and staff of that historic team during a full night of festivities.

“It was a special team at that time. We got off to a rough start, but once we turned the corner we just kept winning,” said Hall of Fame goalie Pat O’Toole. “When I tell my lacrosse stories to the kids, that year comes up a lot. We had a lot of guys who had been together for years, so to finally get over that hurdle and win the championship was really special.”

O’Toole is one of over a dozen players who will return for the 2007 reunion. Also committed to attend the game are Marshall Abrams, Mike Accursi, Pat Cougevan, Grant Crawley, Scott Ditzell, Pat Dutton, Bill Greer, Mike Hasen, Stephen Hoar, Joe Smith, Regy Thorpe, Steve Toll, Phil Wetherup, Shawn Wilkins, and Shawn Williams. More players will be added in the coming days.

The members of the 2007 club will be introduced during a pregame ceremony. Following the contest, fans can reminisce with some of the greatest players in team history at the postgame party at The Distillery on Mt. Hope Ave. Season tickets holders can also mingle with the 2007 team during the Season Ticket Holder Postgame Autograph Session.

The 2007 Knighthawks are still among one of the greatest teams in league and franchise history. After starting the season with a 2-2 record, the Knighthawks reeled off a then record 12 straight victories. In the postseason, Rochester continued its dominance by winning all three playoff games to secure the franchise’s second Champion’s Cup. The 15 straight wins remains an NLL single-season record.

“It was one of the most confident, talented bunch of guys I have ever played with,” said 2007 forward Mike Accursi. “Looking back on that year, there was never any doubt that we were going to win the championship once we started to get on that roll.”

On March 25, it’s only fitting that the Knighthawks are hosting the rival Buffalo Bandits. For it was against Buffalo that the Knighthawks pulled off a thrilling 14-13 come-from-behind overtime victory in the East Division Semifinals to advance to the 2007 NLL Championship Game against Arizona.

The Knighthawks are offering a Rivalry Pack for the game against Buffalo. Fans can purchase a ticket for just $20 by calling the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-4295 or by going online to Knighthawks.com
