The program will run Nov. 6 – Dec. 11 on Monday nights at Turf Time in Pittsford.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks are continuing to expand their indoor lacrosse footprint throughout western New York with the announcement of the team’s Box Lacrosse Training Program.

The program, which will run Mondays from Nov. 6 to Dec. 11, will be housed at Turf Time on Monroe Ave. in Pittsford, NY. Boys from fifth through 12th grade are encouraged to take their skills indoors with the Knighthawks.

“Box lacrosse can do so much for your field game,” said Knighthawks transition man and former RIT All-American Brad Gillies. “I hope to keep exposing as many players as possible to a great box lacrosse product in the Rochester area. Programs like this are a fantastic place to start.”

Gillies is one of the Knighthawks players who will serve as an instructor during the six-week program. He will be joined by second-year pro and former Robert Morris standout Luke Laszkiewicz, and several other Knighthawks players. The kids will take part in many of the same practice drills performed by the Knighthawks.

The Box Lacrosse Program serves as a great introduction to box lacrosse for those who have never played and for experienced box players interested in improving their skills. The cost is $150 per player and $75 for goalies at the PeeWee (5th and 6th grade), Bantam (7th and 8th) and High School (9th through 12th) levels. Space is limited to 28 runners and four goalies per age group.

Through the elite-level program, each kid will receive six training sessions, a Knighthawks practice jersey, two tickets to the Knighthawks home opener on Dec. 9 against the Calgary Roughnecks, and a free tryout waiver for the winter Junior Knighthawks. Each player will also receive three one hour and 15-minute practice sessions and three hybrid practice/game sessions.

The games will take place over the final three weeks. The players will be broken up into two teams to take part in a best of three series, which will be officiated by USBOXLA certified referees. The winning team will receive Knighthawks Academy championship T-Shirts and the staff will select an MVP at each age level.
