Joe Resetaritis and Paul Dawson are traded for 2 draft picks apiece.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks announced a pair of trades on Wednesday.
Resetarits trade
The Knighthawks announced that they have acquired a first- and second-round pick from the New England Black Wolves in exchange for forward Joe Resetarits. The deal is pending league approval.
“I would like to thank Joe for his dedication and commitment to the organization during his five seasons with the Knighthawks,” said Rochester Owner and General Manager Curt Styres.
For the seven-year pro, the Knighthawks will receive New England’s 2022 first-round pick and the Black Wolves’ second-round pick in 2019 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. This season, the 29-year-old has collected 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points.
Resetarits has played in Rochester since being acquired from the Buffalo Bandits on March 31, 2015. During his time with the Teal and Purple, the Hamburg, N.Y., native posted 109 goals and 168 assists in 68 games. During the 2017-18 season, he became the first U.S.-born player in history to record 100 points in a season. He was awarded by being named a Second Team All-Pro and Knighthawks’ Offensive MVP.
Dawson trade
The Knighthawks also announced that they have acquired two second-round picks from the San Diego Seals in exchange for defenseman Paul Dawson.
“I would like to thank Paul for his leadership and helping us reach three Finals and win two championships,” said Rochester Owner and General Manager Curt Styres. “Thank you for everything you have done for the game of lacrosse and the organization.”
For the 13-year pro, the Knighthawks will receive San Diego’s second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional second-round pick in the 2022 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. This season, the 33-year-old alternate captain has collected three assists and 34 loose balls.
Dawson has played in Rochester since being acquired from the Philadelphia Wings on Dec. 14. 2012. In parts of seven seasons in the Teal and Purple, the rugged defenseman has posted 13 goals, 23 assists and 377 loose balls in 110 games. From 2013 to 2014, he was one of Rochester’s defensive anchors on back-to-back championship teams.
In his NLL career, the Oakville, Ontario, native has appeared in 191 games and collected 23 goals and 56 assists for 79 points. He has also scooped up 636 loose balls. Dawson played in 128 straight games from Jan. 31, 2008 to April 25, 2015, which was the 11th longest games played streak in NLL history.
