Only 60 spots are available in each age group.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks announced on Thursday that they are Rochester’s first-ever real box lacrosse league, powered by USBOXLA. The hybrid training/league, beginning in October, will teach players the fundamentals of box lacrosse and give them live game experience.
“The Knighthawks Youth Lacrosse League (YBLL) is going to be a big step toward growing the game of box in Rochester,” said Knighthawks Academy Director and Knighthawks player Brad Gillies. “To compete with the best box teams in North America, we need to play more box. We can practice the box concepts all we want, but there is no better way to get better than actual games. This league will get the kids the reps they need.”
This eight-week program will include two weeks of box training practices, and six weeks of games, with playoffs in the final two weeks. Each game will begin with box training skills prior to the start of the game. USBOXLA-certified referees will officiate the games. Teams will be coached by local experienced box lacrosse coaches as well as by current Knighthawks players, including Brad Gillies, Austin Shanks, and Jake Withers.

The opportunity is available for players at the Pee Wee (5/6 grade), Bantam (7/8 grade) and High School (9-12 grade) levels. There are only 60 spots in each age group, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.
