Turner Evans signs a 1-year contract extension with Rochester.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced on Friday that the team has signed forward Turner Evans to a one-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season, pending league approval.
Evans originally joined the Knighthawks on a one-year deal after being acquired from the San Diego Seals on July 11. The 26-year-old completed his third season in the NLL in 2018-19, scoring a career-high 19 goals and adding 26 assists for 45 points while appearing in all 18 games for the Seals. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward also added four points (3+1) in one playoff contest for San Diego, which selected him first overall in the 2018 NLL Expansion Draft.
Originally a second-round selection of the Toronto Rock (10th overall) in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft, the Peterborough, Ontario, native has amassed 117 points (39+78) in 46 career NLL games with San Diego and Toronto.
Evans played collegiate lacrosse at Ohio State University, where he was a four-time Scholar-Athlete and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. As a junior in 2014, he was named a First Team All-ECAC selection before receiving USILA All-American honors the following year. In 59 games for the Buckeyes, Evans tallied 97 points on 54 goals and 43 assists.
Evans is also a three-time Mann Cup champion with his hometown Peterborough Lakers, winning titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
A new era of Knighthawks lacrosse begins on Saturday, Nov. 30 when Rochester opens its inaugural NLL season against the Georgia Swarm at the Blue Cross Arena.
