Cody Jamieson paces Rochester to a 9-8 victory over the Rock in his season debut following an injury.
TORONTO — Rochester Knighthawks held off Toronto Rock, 9-8, on Saturday night at the Air Canada Center.
Cody Jamieson made his season debut and assisted on the Knighthawks (2-2) first two goals as the visitors never trailed. Rochester jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Rock came back to knot the count 3-3 early in the second quarter.
Ian Lord scored to put the Hawks in front to stay as established a 7-3 advantage.
Dan Dawson returned to the lineup, following a 2-game absence, and added 3 assists.
Joe Resetarits led Rochester with 4 points on 3 goals and one assist. Rookies Kyle Jackson and Josh Currier collected 2 goals and 1 assist and 1 goal and 2 assists, respectively.
Jarrett Davis and Brad Gillies accounted for the other Knighthawks goals.
Hawks goalie Matt Vinc recorded 49 saves, giving him a career total of 6,041, to becomes just the 5th goalie to surpass the 6,000-save plateau in NLL history.
Rochester team captain Sid Smith passed Hall of Famer Jeremy Hollenbeck to move into 8th place on the team’s all-time games played list with 112.
The Knighthawks continue their road trip next Friday night at the New England Black Wolves, before returning to the Connors & Ferris Field on Saturday, Feb. 11, against the Saskatchewan Rush.
