BUFFALO, N.Y. — Desperately needing a win to keep their National Lacrosse League (NLL) playoff hopes alive, the Rochester Knighthawks tallied the first 7 goals of the game to post a 17-10 victory over Eastern Division leader Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night before 15,302 spectators at KeyBank Center.
Hamburg native, and former Bandit, Joe Resetarits amassed 14 points to pace the Hawks. He scored 3 goals and dished out 11 assists.
However, he was not the only Knighthawk to have a big game. Kyle Jackson registered 9 points as he netted 5 goals and 4 assists. Cody Jamieson collected 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists.
Rochester rookies Austin Shanks and Eric Fannell contributed 2 goals apiece. Jake Withers, Cory Vitarelli, and Josh Currier accounted for the other goals for the Knighthawks.
Goalie Matt Vinc made 43 saves in earning the win.
Rochester won its third straight game to improve to 5-6 on the season, but the Hawks still are in last place in the Eastern Division.
Buffalo stills leads the division with a 6-4 record. The Toronto Rock (5-4) play the Georgia Swarm (4-5) on Sunday. The New England Black Wolves (4-4) held third place and were playing in Vancouver Saturday night.
