The team joins Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild homes in Rochester.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local lacrosse players joined Habitat for Humanity in rebuilding Rochester communities.
Nine members of the Rochester Knighthawks, including staff and players, worked on building two homes Tuesday.
One home was on Jay Street, and the other on Silver Street. They did everything from roof sheathing at the 2017 Women Build House to floor framing at the 2017 Perinton Congregations House.
All with the goals of rebuilding homes, communities, and hope. Some even had to get over their fears — all to focus on the cause.
“Being on the roof — I’m not a huge fan of heights but I’m trying to get over it one board at a time,” said Luke Laszkiewicz, Rochester Knighthawks player. “It feels great to support the Rochester community. We get a lot of support through the community for our lacrosse team so giving back feels great.”
Since 1984, Flower City Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated over 225 homes.
