Rochester opens camp Nov. 3-4 in Six Nations.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks announced their training camp schedule today, which kicks off the weekend of Nov. 3-4 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena (ILA) in Six Nations.
The Knighthawks will hold fitness testing on Friday, Nov. 3 before officially starting training sessions on Saturday, Nov. 4 as they hit the turf from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm. Training camp is free and open to the public.
“I am really looking forward to it,” said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. “We have fresh faces, a fresh perspective and a hunger to play well from the get-go.”
“I am excited,” added Knighthawks’ second overall pick Jake Withers. “I’ll be hitting the gym hard and coming out trying to earn my spot.”
Rochester reloaded its roster at the 2017 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft by selecting Withers, Austin Shanks and Eric Fannell in the first round and then choosing Adam Perroni in round two. The Knighthawks added Six Nations Arrows defensemen Trevor Stacey and Kessler Doolittle in the final two rounds.
The rookies and veterans will take part in seven practices during training camp and three preseason games prior to the start of the 2017-18 season. With the season starting three weeks earlier than last year, the team will play all three of its preseason games at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Rochester will open its preseason schedule on Saturday, Nov. 18 against the New England Black Wolves at 1 pm. The following day, the Knighthawks will battle their thruway rivals, the Buffalo Bandits, at 11 am. Rochester will close out its preseason slate with a 6 pm showdown against the defending champion Georgia Swarm on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Rochester will open its 24th season on Saturday, Dec. 9 against the Calgary Roughnecks at Connors & Ferris Field at the Blue Cross Arena. Fans can purchase season tickets, starting at $90, by visiting www.knighthawks.com or by calling (585) 454-4295.
