It’s Day Two of hearings in the Craig Rideout Murder Trial, as a string of investigators who developed the evidence against all four defendants take the stand to explain what they did and why.
Attorneys for the defense are looking for inconsistencies or other reasons they might be able to get some of the evidence thrown out.
Rideout’s estranged wife, Laura, her boyfriend Paul Tucci, and her sons Colin and Alexander Rideout are all accused of cleaning up the crime scene in the basement of Craig Rideout’s Penfield townhouse and disposing of the body and other evidence. All four were subsequently charged with second degree murder in Rideout’s strangling death.
One interesting piece of testimony today: Rideout’s killers mutilated his face with acid drain cleaner, apparently trying to conceal his identity. But they left his phone in his pocket, which quickly identified him.
Much of the testimony today dealt with Paul Tucci’s car and how it came to be searched after a deputy saw Tucci drive Laura Rideout and the others to Craig Rideout’s home in Penfield.
