One of the two University of Rochester students kidnapped by drug dealers in 2015 has given notice that he’s filing a personal injury lawsuit against the university.
Nicholas Kollias and another student were kidnapped from the campus in December of 2015 and taken to a house in the city where they were beaten and tortured. They were subjected to sexual and psychological assault for 40 hours until they were rescued by a SWAT team. It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
Kollias is alleging that his injuries resulted from the University of Rochester’s negligence. Among the charges, he says the actual target of the kidnapping had a reputation as a drug dealer on campus but he was never disciplined for it.
The University of Rochester says it was a deplorable situation, and it is strongly committed to protecting its students.
