The “guilty” verdict against Jalen Everett in the Boys and Girls Club murder case has been set aside.
Everett’s attorney confirms the judge has set aside the murder verdict against Everett, who was accused of being in the car while Johnny Blackshell Jr. and Michael Mathis fired the shots that killed three people.
The judge set aside the verdict because of concerns over one of the jurors. Setting aside the verdict means the prosecution can bring the case to trial again.
The District Attorney’s Office says they’re disappointed at the judge’s decision and disagree with it wholeheartedly. They say they were aware of the jury issue but a gag order kept them from investigating it. They’re making their own investigation of the situation and will decide what to do once it’s complete.
