The judge hearing the murder trial of Jalen Everett questioned jurors today about whether they’ve seen or heard any media coverage about the case…after questions were raised about witness intimidation. All told the judge they hadn’t.
The judge questioned the jury after Rochester City Council President Loretta Scott said she’s heard rumors of witnesses being intimidated. She attended the trial in support of the witnesses on Wednesday along with other community leaders. Scott says she hasn’t heard anything specific…but says Everett has numerous supporters attending the trial every day, and that creates a tense atmosphere for those testifying about Everett’s part in the mass shootings outside the Boys and Girls Club.
Scott says she plans to attend and sit in the first row so the witnesses will know someone is supporting them.
Everett is the second of three young Rochester men to be tried for the drive-by shooting that killed three people and left four others injured.
