Rochester’s troubled City Court Judge Leticia Astacio has been suspended with pay…by a unanimous vote of the state’s highest court.

The justices of the Court of Appeals voted this afternoon to suspend Judge Astacio, who was charged yesterday (Tues) with Attempted Criminal Purchase or Disposal of a Weapon.  Her attempt to buy a shotgun at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Henrietta allegedly violated the terms of her probation from her DWI conviction.

A judge who is charged with a felony in New York State is liable to be suspended by the Court of Appeals, with or without pay.

Meanwhile, Administrator Robert Tembeckjian (tem BECK ee an) of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct says the commission is continuing its investigation of Judge Astacio. The commission isn’t commenting on where the investigation stands.

Judge Astacio was arraigned on the weapon charge yesterday (Tues) and pleaded “not guilty.” She was ordered to appear in Henrietta town court on May 3rd.
