ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Knighthawks, in conjunction with Harvest Lacrosse, will host the inaugural Upstate Winter Shootout from Saturday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 4. The sold-out USBOXLA-sanctioned tournament includes teams from throughout the northeast region and Canada.

“I can’t wait to see our teams in action this weekend,” said Knighthawks academy director Brad Gillies. “We’ve been working really hard over the past four weeks in practice, so it will be great to see the results of that.”

Twenty teams will compete in the Upstate Winter Shootout, which will take place at Tri-County Sports Complex in Macedon, N.Y. The Connors & Ferris Field at the Blue Cross Arena also will host six Midget Division games on Sunday. Among the field of teams participating are the Jr. Knighthawks, Edge Lacrosse (Oakville, Ontario) and the Penn*Lax All Stars.

The Jr. Knighthawks will compete in the PeeWee (5th/6th grade), Bantam (7th/8th) and Midget (9th/10th) divisions. The Jr. Knighthawks will open their PeeWee schedule at 8 am versus Penn*Lax at Tri-County Sports Complex on Field 1. The Jr. Knighthawks Bantam team will follow with a 12:35 pm faceoff against Harvest Lacrosse at Tri-County Sports Complex on Field 2. The Midget team will then hit the floor at 2:25 pm to battle 3d Upstate at Tri-County Sports Complex on Field 2.

The Jr. Knighthawks are being coached by Knighthawks players Brad Gillies, Austin Shanks, Jake Withers, and Eric Fannell. They will be joined on the bench by Knighthawks Hall of Famer Tim Soudan, Knighthawks alum Luke Laszkiewicz, and former RIT standout Braden Wallace.

The Upstate Winter Shootout kicks off the Jr. Knighthawks’ schedule, which concludes with a trip to the USBOXLA-sanctioned Midwest Classic, presented by Resolute Lacrosse. The tourney will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17 and Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Resolute Athletic Complex in Columbus, Ohio. At the Midwest Classic, the Jr. Knighthawks will play against some of the best box teams in the United States.
