The indoor soccer superstar returns to Rochester.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jeremy Ortiz, one of the first players signed by the Rochester Lancers in 2011, returns for his 5th season with the indoor team. Per league and team policies, no further terms of the agreement were disclosed.
“I am excited that Ortiz will be coming back in the 2019-20 season.” Said head coach Doug Miller “He will bring leadership and quality to the team as a Rochester Lancers staple.”
Jeremy Ortiz, Midfield, #23
Born and raised in Mount Laurel, N.J., the 33-year-old Ortiz has had an extensive soccer career. He played college soccer for La Salle University where he scored 17 goals, had 11 assists and played in 60 games. Ortiz was named NSCAA Regional All American in 2006, he was a 3x Atlantic 10 All Conference player and a 3x Philly Soccer Seven player. From 2006-2008 Jeremy played Semi-Pro for Ocean City Barons (PDL). He was the 2006 team MVP and had 19 goals, 6 assists and played in 40 games throughout his time with the team.
Professional Career:
2008-09, 2009-10: Philadelphia Kixx (MISL) where he spent two seasons, scored 10 goals, had 6 assists and played in 31 games.
2011: US Futsal National Team, he earned 5 caps and played in the Grand Prix Tournament in Manaus, Brazil. 2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15, 2018-19: Rochester Lancers Indoor team (MISL/MASL/M2). Jeremy played in 79 games, with 54 goals and 34 assists. Jeremy helped the Lancers reach the playoffs in 3 seasons.
2013: Dandenong City SC, NPL Victoria League, Australia. 12 games, 2 goals and 6 assists.
2015-2016: Baltimore Blast (MASL). MASL Champions, played in 14 games with 2 goals and 4 assists.
Ortiz enjoys coaching and developing youth players in his spare time and watching EPL and La Liga Football.
“Jeremy has been part of the Lancers family since Day 1,” said Salvatore “SoccerSam” Fantauzzo. “I think back to all of the community events and appearances he has done to help the Lancers success and it’s an honor to have him back.”
The MASL opens its season the weekend of Nov. 22 where the Lancers will visit The MetroStars of Canada. The Lancers home opener is on Friday, Nov. 29 at the New Dome Arena.
