Rochester’s Jewish Community Center decided to open on Monday since it’s entrance is in Brighton, which is a COVID-19 orange zone…but its actual gym facilities are across the town line in Henrietta, which is a yellow zone where gyms are allowed to be open.
That lasted for a day.
The JCC had opened after receiving guidance from the state that it was OK. But on Tuesday, the state reversed that guidance and told them to close again.
In a release, JCC head Josh Weinstein said they immediately complied, although disappointed at the decision.
