The organizers of the CGI-Rochester International Jazz Festival say they have no choice…they have to cancel this summer’s festival because of the coronavirus pandemic. They’ll try to move it to the fall, if possible.
Producers Marc Iacona and John Nugent announced this afternoon (Thurs) that the June 19-27 festival dates will no longer work. They say after conferring with the musicians, local officials and other festivals around the world, the best choice looks like trying for a move to the fall months. They say it’s a matter of public safety, safety for the musicians and all involved.
The producers say all the talent lineup announced just two weeks ago will be offered new slots and they’ll try to agree on a rearranged schedule. They say they’re devastated that they have to do this, especially when we need music the most.
