Patrons of the Xerox-Rochester International Jazz Festival will notice some security changes downtown in the wake of the recent surge in van and truck attacks on crowds overseas.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Peters says traffic will be kept well away from Gibbs Street and the main festival site this year with steel barriers and trucks parked across the roads instead of orange cones. In addition to stronger road barricades you’ll see more uniformed police and K-9 units.

Police Chief Michael Ciminelli says there will also be changes that you can’t see. He says there are no credible reports of threats against the festival, but urged people to say something if they see something that looks wrong to them.
