The second of three young men to be tried in connection with the Boys and Girls Club shootings last year has been found guilty of second degree murder in Monroe County Court. Jalen Everett has also been convicted on three counts of assault from that drive-by shooting on Genesee Street.
The jury deliberated all day Thursday and Friday before announcing late Friday afternoon that it had a verdict. It was read in court minutes later, with Monroe County DA Sandra Doorley immediately Tweeting JUSTICE followed by three exclamation marks.
Johnny Blackshell Jr. has already been sentenced to life in prison in this case. A third defendant goes on trial in January. Three young men were killed in the mass shooting and four people were either injured by bullets or being trampled in the panic after the shooting started.
