BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres today announced that forward Jack Eichel has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely.

Eichel sustained the injury with 6:52 left in the first period of Saturday night’s 4-2 win in Boston.

Eichel leads the team in goals (22) assists (31) and points (53). Thirty-four of those points have come since the beginning of December. His 16 multi-point games this season through 55 games have tied his career best set in 2016-17.

He missed the first 21 games of last season with a left high-ankle sprain.

Sabres recall Baptiste

The Buffalo Sabres on Sunday announced the team has recalled forward Nicholas Baptiste from the Rochester Americans.

Baptiste (22, 6-foot-1, 205 lbs.) joins the Sabres for the third time this season after scoring one goal in eight games during two stints with the team earlier this campaign. The Ottawa, Ontario native has recorded 18 points (7+11) in 36 games during his third professional season with the Amerks.

Selected by Buffalo in the third round (69th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Baptiste made his NHL debut last season and has recorded five points (4+1) in 22 career games with the Sabres.
