J-MAC is stepping back from the Greece-Athena basketball program to focus more on his running.
Jason McElwain has been a volunteer coach for the Greece-Athena Trojans for the past 10 years. He’s now 28.
It was eleven years ago this week that J-MAC became the subject of one of the first viral videos. The high-functioning autistic teen was the varsity team’s manager. The coach put him in for the last few minutes of the last game of the season. That’s when McElwain scored 20 points in four minutes, including six three-point shots.
It made not only the internet, but ESPN and television worldwide. J-MAC got to meet President George W. Bush and even got a movie offer.
Today he’s a marathoner and interested in competitive running.
