An Ithaca radio station reports that Dr. Luvelle Brown is no longer a candidate for the job of Rochester school superintendent. Brown told WHCU in an interview that he’s staying put, in part because of his family.
A number of sources said Brown was the Rochester School Board’s top choice to head the City School District and contract talks were underway for about two weeks.
The City School District says today that it had decided on a finalist but was unable to reach agreement on terms and conditions of employment. While not naming Dr. Brown as that candidate, School Board President Van White said in a statement that he’s not discouraged.
White says they vetted a pool of great candidates and will move on to the next choice. Meanwhile, Interim Superintendent Linda Cimusz will stay on at least through the end of July.
