The Town of Irondequoit is moving forward with plans for its new community center at the site of the former Medley Centre mall.

Supervisor Dave Seeley says the town has finalized plans for the center at what’s now called Skyview on the Ridge.

The town will hold a July 30th referendum for Irondequoit residents, asking voters to approve bonding more than $7 million dollars to finance the $8.5 million dollar project.

Seeley says the community center will be 43,000 square feet and will be developed on the northern side of Skyview, next to the former Macy’s site. It will have a gym, a fitness center, community meeting rooms and more.

The town is also working with Skyview’s management to provide space for the Irondequoit Police Department.

More information is on the town website.
