An Irondequoit High School Student is in “very serious condition” after being hit by a car while crossing Cooper Road near the school this morning.
Irondequoit Police say the 14-year-old freshman underwent surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital. There’s been no update on his condition.
A police spokeswoman says the teenager was walking across Cooper Road near Winona Boulevard when a northbound vehicle struck him, about two blocks from the school. Police say speed did not appear to be a factor and the driver wasn’t distracted.
