It’s getting near the end of summer, but only now is the Town of Irondequoit able to open the public boat launch at Bay State Marine Park at the Irondequoit Bay Outlet.
The record high water levels on Lake Ontario and the bay had the launching ramp underwater for most of the season. Supervisor David Seeley’s office says the ramp will open for business Saturday morning, and to make up for losing most of the season, they’re cutting the launching fee to $6 per boat. The state of emergency requiring a 5 mph speed limit near shore remains in effect.
Seeley says in a statement that lakeshore landowners are still facing high water challenges, but at least it’s nice to see some normalcy returning to the shore.
