Supervisor Dave Seeley says the Town of Irondequoit has made a difficult decision: to cancel all of its Independence Day celebration this year. The town says it couldn’t figure out how to do the annual two-day festival while maintaining adequate social distancing.
The event usually brings tens of thousands of visitors to the Town Hall Campus on Titus Avenue.
Seeley says he looks forward to renewing the celebration next year when the pandemic is hopefully over.
The town decided to limit the festival back in April, but hoped to hold at least the fireworks show. But Seeley says the town couldn’t find an alternate location that was both available on the day and would let people space out more.
