The towns of Irondequoit, Brighton and Pittsford have teamed up to get what they hope will be lower cost, clean electricity for their residents.
Irondequoit Supervisor Dave Seeley calls it “a huge step forward.”
The three towns plus the Village of Pittsford have jointly hired Joule Assets to administer what’s called a “Community Choice Aggregation.” Joule will work on their behalf, leveraging the customer base of the three towns to negotiate lower cost electricity, generated from green sources. Although the power would come from various sources, it will still be distributed by RG&E over their network.
The goal is to get as much renewable energy at the lowest possible price.
