The former owner of the Medley Centre Mall has reached a settlement with Irondequoit and the East Irondequoit School District over unpaid property taxes.

The $1.4 million settlement between the town, school district and Bersin Properties settles the dispute over payments Bersin should have made under a PILOT agreement. The first installment of $900,000 will be paid in the next month, and will be split evenly between the town and the school district.

Supervisor Dave Seeley said in a statement that the agreement allows the town to move on from an “unwelcome chapter” in Irondequoit history and provides sufficient compensation to taxpayers. Seeley says the town’s share of the money will go to help fund the new town community center.
