As water levels come down on Lake Ontario and Irondequoit Bay, the Town of Irondequoit has modified its emergency orders, allowing boaters to travel a little faster on the bay.
Speed limits are now five mph within 500 feet of shore, and the normal 25 miles per hour away from shore. Town officials were forced to limit speeds to five mph on the bay and idle only near shore to protect against wake damage while the bay was above flood stage. The emergency order was in place since May.
