Rochester police say a one-year-old child is still in serious condition, but is improving after his father leapt from the top of the South Avenue parking garage while holding him.
The man jumped from the building late Friday night after a woman called 911 to report her husband having a “psychotic breakdown.” Police say the man jumped before they could arrive.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, but the child survived with serious injuries. Police say he suffered no brain damage in the fall, and in a few weeks should be able to travel to a hospital closer to home for treatment. The family is from out of town, and were in Rochester to visit an ailing relative.
