Empire State Development says LiDestri Food and Drink is bringing one of the nation’s biggest hydroponic commercial greenhouses to Eastman Business Park in Rochester, LiDestri is working with Clearwater Organic Farms, LLC. The 650,000 square foot greenhouse they plan to build will grow and package fresh, organic leaf greens 365 days a year.
It’s a $50 million project that will mean 137 new jobs, 55 of them set aside for underemployed New Yorkers and for veterans. The state is supporting the project with a total of $6 million in tax credits and Upstate Revitalization Initiative funding.
Rochester puts the company’s fresh produce within easy reach of the major population centers along the east coast, the midwest and Canada.
