Eichel opened the scoring on the power play 5:03 into the contest. Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid picked up the assists.
Ristolainen had two shots, four hits, two blocked shots and was third on the team in ice time with 21:52.
Dmitry Kulikov and Team Russia fell to Sweden 2-1 on Sunday. The defenseman, who will make his debut with the Sabres once the tournament is over, skated 17:57, had five hits and two blocked shots.
Team Canada dominated in their 2016 World Cup of Hockey opener against the Czech Republic with a 6-0 win on Saturday at Air Canada Centre.
The Sabres’ own Ryan O’Reilly skated 14:28 for Team Canada, including 3:11 on the penalty kill, a spot where he is expected to be relied heavily upon in any tournament game he plays.
